Hi, A frequent trepidation I hear about psychiatric medication from patients is that they feel it may "mask" some of their emotions or that it will provide them with some "false" version of reality. I'm sure you may have heard this some times in your practice. Some patients, though afflicted with depression, feel that it provides them with some insight or perspective ("depressive realism" perhaps) and to medicate it away would take away something they feel is a part of their identity/personality. Have you ever been confronted with these questions from patients and how do you try to address them. Specifically on the "false" reality question and the second question of identity/personality. Please help. Thanks! I didn't find the right solution from the Internet. References: forums.studentdoctor.net/threads/philosophical-questions-from-patients.1268253/Campus Management Video
